The frame and body group covers the main frame, counterweight, fenders, steps, handrails, access doors, panels and the mounting hardware that ties them together. It carries every load the machine generates and every load the attachment imposes back into the structure. Cracks almost always start at a weld toe or a bolt hole where a mounting has worked loose, and a loose guard or step is both a structural and a safety issue. The undercarriage group covers tracks, shoes, links, bushings, rollers, idlers, sprockets, track tensioners and the recoil hardware.
