The generators group covers the alternator end of a generator set: stator, rotor, exciter, bearings, coupling disc, terminal box and the voltage regulation hardware. It converts engine rotation into electrical output at a held voltage and frequency. Bearing wear and insulation degradation are the two long-term concerns — a bearing that starts to rumble will eventually seize and take the rotor with it, while moisture and heat slowly break down winding insulation.
